Six steps, from the provincial assessment to the first week at St. Anne.
Step by step
How admission works
1. Continuing Care assessment
Placement in a provincial long-term care bed begins with a Nova Scotia Continuing Care assessment. St. Anne cannot admit a resident directly.
2. Naming St. Anne
During the assessment you can name St. Anne Centre as a preferred home. Veterans should also ask about the five-bed Veterans Wing.
3. The offer of a bed
When a bed is offered, reception connects you with the Director of Care to arrange the move-in date and review health information.
4. Paperwork & billing
Resident billing and the accommodation charge are handled on site. Our payroll and resident billings contact can explain how monthly charges work.
5. The first week
Staff introduce the resident to the unit, complete the initial care plan with the family, and arrange dietitian, physiotherapy and recreation input.
6. Settling in
Families are invited to Family Council and encouraged to raise concerns early with the Director of Care.
