Five dedicated beds in a separate wing, opened in June 1997 and still part of daily life at St. Anne.
How it came to be
Built by three partners and a community
Construction of five additional beds in a separate wing was completed in 1996, and the Veterans Wing opened in June 1997. It was made possible by Veterans Affairs Canada, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, and the generosity of the citizens of Isle Madame and Louisdale — the same communities that had raised the money to open the hospital half a century earlier.
Together with our 24 provincial long-term care beds, the wing brings the home to 29 residents.

Care & eligibility
What veterans and families should know
Same care team
Residents of the wing receive the same 24-hour nursing, dietitian, physiotherapy assistance and recreation programming as the rest of the home.
Veterans Affairs eligibility
Eligibility for a Veterans Affairs Canada bed is determined by VAC. Reception can point you to the right VAC contact and to Continuing Care.
Remembrance
Recreation marks Remembrance Day and other commemorations with residents, families and community volunteers each year.
