How many residents will the new Centre hold?

The design provides 32 private resident rooms, each with a private washroom, arranged as two long-term care wings of 16 rooms. Today the Centre is licensed for 24 provincial long-term care beds plus 5 Veterans Affairs Canada beds.

Will every resident have their own room?

Yes — the new building is designed entirely around private rooms with private washrooms, which is a significant change from the current building.

Will the Urgent Treatment Centre, lab and X-ray still be here?

The design includes a separate acute-care component with treatment spaces, laboratory and X-ray, and offices for medical, nursing and dietitian staff, alongside a community multi-purpose area.

When is the move?

No move date is confirmed on this website. When the schedule is set, families will receive written information well before any transition, and the date will be published here and on the project page.

How will residents actually be moved?

A resident transition plan is developed with the care team before any move, covering moving order, medications, equipment, personal belongings and staffing on the day. Families will be told their resident's plan individually — not by public announcement.

Does long-term care cost more in the new building?

Resident accommodation charges for long-term care in Nova Scotia are set provincially, not by the Centre. Ask Payroll / Resident Billings at the Centre about your own situation before assuming a change.

Can the community use the new building?

A community multi-purpose area is part of the design. How it will be booked and scheduled has not been decided, and we will not guess at it here.

How do I get project updates?

Updates are published on the Our New Centre page and shared on the Centre's Facebook page. Nothing is posted here until it is confirmed by the Centre.
